Drug Tests
Posted Saturday, January 10, 2009
Both teacher and students get put to the test on this weekend's Decision Makers.
On this weekend's Decision Makers, host Bray Cary talks with Judy Hale of the West Virginia Chapter of the American Federation of Teachers about a controversial plan to drug test teachers in Kanawha County. He also sits down with Jackson County schools superintendent Blaine Hess about their method of drug testing certain high school students.

Herb, all I can say is, "We spend hundreds of billions on this so called, Drug Problem and we cannot prove we have saved or even helped one child."
Safety is a real issue. It will never be found in a urine sample. |

You'd think, or at least I would, that people would have more important things to worry about than what's in other people's urine. But then, I'd also think that any person considered competent enough to vote, drive, marry, raise children and carry a gun would be capable of deciding what substances to put into his or her own body. And it seems to me that peaceful private citizens should not have to fear their government.
America doesn't have a "drug problem." America has a war. |

Here's an idea: What stop with teachers? Why not include school administrators and the school board in the urine-testing? Why not the school board, the town council, county board of supervisors? Why not drug test cops, judges, probation officers? In fact, since they all seem to believe that drug testing is necessary for a good life, why not require it of ALL public servants, elected or hired, right up to the president?
Keeping OUR "inalienable" rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness depends on peeing in front of strangers; surely those we employ should expect no less. |
